Chico and Rita       (great animation style and cuban music.  oscar nominated for best animation,  in spanish with subtitles)

Moneyball        (true story of professional baseball manager assembling a winning  team)

Ides of March       (behind the scenes drama and scandals of a presidential primary campaign)

Beginners       (the new beginnings of finding, falling and being in love.  excellent acting.)

The Artist       (black and white, silent film.  unique way to tell a simple boy-meets-girl story)

Tree of LIfe      (dream-like film with innovative visuals, camera movement and editing)

A Separation         (award-winning film about  the complications of marriage and the Iranian legal system.  in farsi with subtitles)

My Week With Marilyn         (high-quality British film production with excellent acting from entire cast)

Hugo          (an atmospheric  movie about the love of film)

Elite Squad - The Enemy Within        (fighting the drug trade in the slums of Rio de Janeiro.  highest grossing film ever in Brazil.  in portuguese with subtitles)

Captain America  3-D        (classic story of underdog becoming super-hero.  well-done, subtle use of 3-D)

The Help       (racial strife in the 1960s south,  based on the best selling book)

Martha Marcy May Marlene          (psychological drama of young woman trying to leave a cult)

Le Havre        (residents of the harbor city conceal an illegal African refugee.  in french with subtitles)

The Women on the Sixth Floor         (Paris stockbroker befriends the lively Spanish maids who live upstairs.  in french with subtitles)

Silent Souls         (a most unusual road trip through central russia to preserve an ancient ritual.  in russian with subtitles)

Circo         (documentary shows the struggles of a small family circus in rural mexico.  in spanish with subtitles)

The Guard        (quirky, local policeman in small irish village reluctantly takes on big-time drug smugglers)

Super 8           (strong story, set design and special effects)

Mozart's Sister        (the other musical prodigy in the mozart family.  in french with subtitles)

The Desert of Forbidden Art        (absorbing documentary of the recovery, restoration and display of banned russian artwork) 

Blue Valentine       (study of a dissolving marriage with strong, realistic performances)

Black Swan       (inside the world of ballet with oscar winning performance by natalie portman)

True Grit         (remake of classic western with excellent acting and dialogue)

The Fighter            (bio of boxer micky ward.  powerful,realistic acting)

Animal Kingdom         (strong story of australian criminal family)

Carancho                     (ambulance-chasing lawyer romances emergency doctor in the noir thriller from argentina.  in spanish with subtitles)

The Kids Are All Right         (great performances from entire cast, especially Annette Bening)

The Illusionist         (amazing animation tells a delightful story of a traveling  magician)

Applause             (extraordinary performance by lead actress Paprika Steen.  in danish with subtitles)

Nothing Personal         (isolation, loneliness and love on the Irish coast)

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest           (final film of the trilogy.  in swedish with subtitles)

The Town        (bank and armored car robberies in Boston.  strong action film)

The Social Network        (true story about the creation of Facebook)

Let Me In       (remake of the swedish vampire film, 'Let The Right One In')

Conviction      (based on true story of a wrongful murder conviction.  excellent cast and acting)

Leaving        (passion, obsessive love and betrayal in the french countryside.  in french with subtitles)

The American        (methodical, day to day life of a gunmaker for assassins.)
